The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), founded in 1948, is the primary professional membership
organization for human genetics specialists worldwide. The Society’s nearly 8,000 members include researchers, academicians, clinicians, laboratory practice
professionals, genetic counselors, nurses and others who have a special interest in the field of human genetics.

Membership Types
Regular Membership is open to any applicant who is interested in research in human genetics or in issues pertaining to human genetics. Members may
be elected to office, serve on committees, and vote on Society matters. One year membership is $190.
Trainee Membership is open to postdoctoral fellows, residents, and bona fide students participating in degree-granting programs. No individual shall
remain a Trainee Member for longer than 5 years without documentation of student, resident, or postdoctoral fellow status. Membership ranges from $25-$70.
Spouse/Partner Membership is open to couples. Each person is a Regular Member but the couple receives only one Journal subscription. One year
membership is$230.
Emeritus Membership is open to retired members that have been a Regular Member for at least five years. Emeritus members are entitled to all rights
and benefits of regular membership, but are not required to pay a fee unless they choose to subscribe to the Journal.
