ASHG looks forward to welcoming you to the 2023 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. When participating in a large conference, attendees should take prudent personal and public health measures. Following the conclusion of the federal pandemic designation, ASHG will not require attendees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, ASHG encourages all attendees to maintain an appropriate vaccination schedule, following current CDC Guidelines and the recommendation of your medical provider. Masks will also be optional at the Annual Meeting.  Please bear in mind that attendees may have different levels of health risk from infections, and respect the decision of any attendee to wear a face mask or their request to maintain physical distance to reduce transmission of and exposure to many communicable diseases.

ASHG expects registrants to monitor for symptoms of communicable viruses throughout the meeting. This includes a recommendation to take a COVID test prior to arrival in Washington, DC and as warranted during the event. Those testing positive for COVID-19; who are sick with symptoms of COVID-19; or who suspect they may have COVID-19 symptoms should follow CDC guidance on isolation. If you find yourself in this position and are scheduled to present a poster or talk, please immediately alert ASHG staff (at meetings@ashg.org) and your session chair or main contact who will indicate that you are unable to present. If you have this situation and have been granted a travel award contingent upon presentation, please also contact meetings@ashg.org.  We ask that attendees exercise caution about exposing others not only to COVID-19 but also to other contagious illnesses, such as the flu, if they have reason to believe they may be infected.

While this policy is intended to encourage responsible behavior and minimize the risk of exposure, meeting registration is contingent upon the attendee’s assumption of risk of contracting a communicable virus while at ASHG 2023. ASHG reserves the right to revise this policy if local, state, or national conditions warrant doing so.
