Achievements and Future Directions of ASHG’s Career Development Committee

Since the launch of their Action Plan in 2020, the Career Development Committee has made significant strides in engaging professionals at all stages of their genetic and genomics careers. With the goal of generating tools for trainees and early career professionals, the committee has also focused on providing growth and leadership opportunities for all its members.

“The Career Development Committee has the privilege of preparing the largest workforce of human genetics and genomics researchers and clinicians,” says Anna Miller, PhD, Incoming Co-Chair of the CDC. “Young professionals join ASHG each year looking to learn, grow, connect, and contribute to the field. The information and resources we produce allows the Society to be the primary resource for career-related information and opportunities for people in all areas of genetics.”

  2. Sustainability Planning: Efforts are being made to ensure the sustainability of existing ASHG career resources while also developing new career resources for the community.
  3. Timely Training Opportunities: The committee will continue to develop timely career development training and learning opportunities for members across all career stages.
