K-12 Education

ASHG organizes a number of educational programs throughout the year to promote genetics and genomics education for grades K-12. ASHG is one of the leading supporters of National DNA Day through the annual DNA Day Essay Contest. The Essay Contest is for high school students and attracts entrants from nearly every state and over 20 countries. The Society also provides resources to assist in teaching evolution.

ASHG is also the proud host of the Genetics Engagement & Education Network, which is a place where the public can connect with ASHG members, and ask human-genetics related questions. The Network is a database of genetic experts and educational resources for the public.
