We are excited to welcome you to the ASHG 2024 Annual Meeting which will take place November 5-9 in Denver, Colorado. You can expect to experience five full days of exciting science including special sessions such as the Presidential Symposium, Presidential Address, and industry-education events! Attendees will also have ample opportunities for collaboration whether it be in the poster hall, sessions or networking events, there is something for everyone!
As we look to the year ahead, what better way to start preparing for your participation in this year’s meeting than to consider submitting your abstract for a chance to present your science. The abstract submission site will open on April 30 and will close June 5.
“Submitting an abstract to be presented at ASHG 2024 is an excellent opportunity to receive feedback on your research and build new connections that could lead to future collaborations, while also strengthening your portfolio to elevate your career.”
– Program Committee Chair, Beth Sullivan, PhD
We took some time to connect with the ASHG Program Committee to gather some helpful tips to assure your abstract stands out this year:
- Review our submission guidelines and policies and step-by-step instructions.
- Prepare a clear and concise abstract with the most relevant information.
- Use the QuERY model. Clearly state your Question (or hypothesis), your Experiment, the Results, and Your Interpretation (why it matters).
- Interpretation of your work is key. An interpretation, broader impacts, and what other members of the ASHG community can take away from your project are criteria the ASHG Program Committee considers when reviewing your submission.
- Focus on results, activities, and findings in your submission. Your abstract should thoroughly explain how your research will address or advance our understanding and knowledge of human genetics and genomics.
- Emphasize the unique or novel aspects of your research.
- When submitting your abstract, carefully select the most appropriate topic and choose keywords that are broad and inclusive to ensure the most effective abstract review process.
- Submit by the deadline, June 5 at 5 pm US Eastern Time!
In addition to a robust scientific program, attendees can also enjoy Denver and all it has to offer. Also known as the “Mile High City” Denver boasts the 10th largest downtown in America and is one of the most exciting and walkable. The downtown area features major sports stadiums, the nation’s second-largest performing arts center, an assortment of art and history museums, hundreds of chef-driven restaurants and much more! If nature is more your speed, Denver has got you covered! With more than 200 parks within the city and 20,000 acres of parks in the nearby mountains, including spectacular Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, Denver has the best of both words.
